Description:

Exhibited on a circular earthenware dinner plate is Spode's Bowpot pattern in blue underglaze.  The design is rarely found in plain blue as it is usually over-enamelled in color.  Robert Copeland has identified a Chinese porcelain pattern that was copied by Spode to produce the Bowpot pattern.
