The Botanical and British Flowers series use similar designs and borders. In Spode's Botanical series, however, the pattern reverses the colors used in British Flowers resulting in white flowers on a colored ground. Both series were issued in 1828. Botanical was printed in blue, brown, Payne's grey, black, green, and yellow gold. Toward the very end of the early Spode period, the pattern was also printed in pink. Multicolored patterns were also produced. The variety of colors, still found today, suggest the popularity of the series.
