Portland Vase

Description:

This pattern was printed in blue underglaze on a Double Indented and ribbed earthenware soup plate.  In spite of its name, the vase does not resemble the original Roman vase for which the pattern was named.  Considered of uncommon Spode design, it is c. 1831.
