Description: Shown here on a large earthenware well and tree platter, the pattern is printed in blue underglaze. Spode originated the Indian Sporting series c. 1809, and several other potters produced various patterns. The source of these patterns were the large aquatints published in Oriental Field Sports, Wild Sports of the East, written by Captain Thomas Williamson and illustrated by Samuel Howitt.
