Description:

This jug was made with a strainer behind the spout intended to hold back skin from boiled milk or other hot liquids.  Later, in a similar fashion, manufactureres produced vessels with strainers to be used for toast water.  It is printed in blue underglaze in the Tower pattern.   Shown below is the jug without cover revealing the strainer.
