Forest Landscape I

Pattern Category: Chinese Influence

Object Type: Dinner and Dessert Wares

Dimensions:

  • Width: 9.1 in inches

Description:

This early Spode pattern was used on dinner wares.  It is shown here on an earthenware rectangular indented dessert dish printed in blue underglaze.  Forest Landscape I was the first of two versions of this pattern and can be identified by the simpler style of engraving and the lack of shading on the garden surrounding the house. The border is the same as found on the Rock pattern.  The pattern was introduced before 1800.
