Description:

Spode's Star Flower pattern is exhibited on an oyster pan in blue underglaze.  It has a narrow border fitted around the main sheet pattern.  The pattern is sometimes seen enhanced with gilding and enameling.  It was also printed in additional colors.  Another example of this pattern, printed in black on a dessert dish, is also included in this exhibition.   The pattern was introduced around 1815.
