Pattern Category: Based on Chinese Originals Alternate Names: Two Temples I, Variation Temple Object Type: Wares for Breakfast and Tea Dimensions: Source: Chinese Original Description:
The Spode name of Temple in the early pattern books gave way to the use
of Two Temples I, Variation Temple that denotes the close resemblance
to the pattern known as Two Temples II, Variation Broseley. The
position of the willow tree and extra figure found in the garden in the former are the
two elements that help differentiate one pattern from the other. This example of Temple is printed in blue underglaze on a bone china saucer from a New Oval service with bute-shape cups and saucers. It is taken from an original Chinese Export porcelain painted pattern named Chinese Shuttered Windows. Drakard/Holdway Pattern Number P613-1 Mark Types and IDsTransfer Printed 31
