Aesop's Fables

This series was produced near the end of the Spode period.  The designs were adapted from illustrations published in the 1793 edition of the Rev. Samual Croxall's Fables of Aesop.  The series was primarily printed on dinner and dessert wares in green, black, brown and blue.  A special mark in the form of an elaborate cartouche was engraved with the name for each pattern in the series.  The color of the mark corresponds to the color used for the pattern.
